What you can reach out about

Not sure we cover your student's subject?
We probably do.

Families reach out about one struggling class, a big test on the calendar, or a whole academic year that got away from them. Here's what our tutors work on most, from middle school through college, online or in person, with a few adults in the mix for executive functioning. If your student's subject isn't on the list, ask anyway and you'll get a straight answer.

Math, Pre-Algebra to advanced calculus

Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB and BC, with elementary math available by request. See Maryland math tutoring.

SAT prep and test strategy

Content review, pacing, and full-length practice built around your student's goals and timeline, so the real test feels like one more practice run.

Writing, 6th grade to professional

Essays, application writing, research papers, and the blank-page paralysis that comes before any of them. We coach the process, not just the final draft.

Physics and STEM coursework

High school and college physics and the STEM classes that lean on it. We help students connect the math they already know to the science in front of them.

Executive functioning and study skills

Our Hacking Your Potential track works with motivated older teens and adults on planning, focus, and follow-through, the study skills and academic support school rarely covers directly.

Still not sure? Start here.

Choose "Not sure yet" on the form and describe what you're seeing at home. A grade slipping in one class points one way; work running late in every class points another. We'll read what you send and tell you where we'd start.

What happens next

Three steps between
this form and a first session.

Weekly planner with a tutoring session penciled in, how Maryland families schedule sessions with Lily's Tutoring Services
01

Your message lands with Lily

Lily reads what you wrote about your student and reaches out to schedule the consult call.

02

A free consult call

You and Lily talk through the class, the goal, how your student learns, and what you've already tried. You'll leave the call knowing what we'd recommend and exactly what it costs, so there are no surprises later.

03

Meet your hand-picked tutor

Lily matches your student to one of our tutors on subject depth, tutoring style, and personality, online or in person, and the first session goes on the calendar.

Other ways to reach us

The form is fastest. These work too.

However you contact us, you'll end up in the same place: a real conversation about your student with the person who runs the roster of tutors. Reach out the way that's easiest, whether that's a quick text or a longer email.

Call or text

Parents usually text first, and that's fine with us. One number handles calls and texts, and if we're mid-session, we'll get back to you.

Email

Good for longer backstories, attachments, or forwarding a syllabus. It reaches the same inbox Lily reads.

Where we work

Comparing tutoring options?

Three questions worth asking anyone you contact.

Whoever you end up choosing for your student, these three answers tell you most of what you need to know. Here's where we stand on each one.

Parent's notepad with questions to ask before contacting a tutor, ready for a free consult call with Lily's Tutoring Services

Who actually picks the tutor?

A real person who knows the roster. Lily reviews every intake and makes the match, so you'll know who your tutor is, and why, before session one.

What happens if the match isn't right?

Ask before you need the answer. Our version: tell us, and we re-match. You're never locked in with a tutor who isn't working out.

What will it cost, exactly?

You'll hear an actual number, and you'll hear it before anything is booked. Rates start at $75 an hour, and the consult call is where your student's rate gets settled.

"Lily worked with my son in the spring of his junior year as he prepared for the AP Calculus AB exam and the SAT. She was professional, knowledgeable, connected with Natan and engaged him in his learning. She definitely boosted his content mastery and exam scores for BOTH tests."

Lily was very helpful; I am glad I found her when I was looking for a tutor for my child. She follows up on the progress of her students. I will recommend Lily’s 100% any time any day. Is a “10” on the scale of 1 to 10. Thank you for your help.

Lily is a great tutor! Extremely knowledgeable, patient and kind as well as flexible with scheduling. She helped my son with some last minute tutoring to help him pass his 9th grade Algebra class. She worked with us to find times that fit into our schedule and when she was working with my son she explained things clearly and put together excellent notes for him to refer to when needed. He enjoyed working with her. We plan to continue to work with Lily throughout my son’s academic career.

We have been using Lily’s Tutoring for the past two school years to help the grandson with math. The attention is personalized to his needs and Ms. Rose has been flexible in the sometimes changing schedule from the teenager and the AACPS system. Lily’s has helped turn the grade around from failing to passing and increased the basic understanding of the subject. I would recommend this service to anyone in need of tutoring.

Lily has been tutoring my 8th grade son in Algebra and it’s made a big difference. He says she explains concepts very clearly. He understands more in 30 minutes with Lily than an hour of class. Lily has been very patient with him. Excellent tutor.

Lily is so very helpful to my son Jonathan, since she started tutoring him in calculus he has maintained an A average. He does not only help him academically, she also looks at his social skills and how he is doing in his other classes. She advises Jonathan and me and his mother on strategies that could benefit Jonathan in his education. I 100% recommend Lily as a tutor and mentor for students and a helper for parents.

Rose, from Lily’s Tutoring Services, did a great job helping our son pass a math class required for a University of Maryland College Park Limited Enrollment Program. He needed a certain grade and working with Rose over four sessions got him there. He’s clear that he would not have made it without the extra instruction. Rose was flexible, responsive, friendly and effective.

My daughter Amanda has had great success with her Statistics class since being tutored by Audrey G. Her grades in the class went from barley passing to B to C grades! Thanks again for all your help!

Lily is a wonderful tutor! She worked expertly with our 6-year-old both on Zoom and in person. Our child looked forward to her sessions with Lily and we often found her practicing what she was learning with her on her own. Lily has a real knack for getting information to stick and was so encouraging of our daughter in each session. We highly recommend her!

What happens after I send the form?

Your message goes straight to Lily herself, and she'll reach out to set up a free consult call where you'll talk through the subject, the grade, and what's been tried. From there she hand-picks the tutor, and the first session usually lands within 7 to 10 days.

What should I include in my message?

The more detail, the better the match. The course and current grade, what your student is struggling with, what you've already tried, and your timing, especially if there's a test or a deadline coming. Don't worry about writing it perfectly; bullet points are fine.

Can I just call or text instead?

Absolutely. Call or text (443) 448-8867 and you'll reach a real person. If we're mid-session, leave a message or send a text and we'll get back to you. Email works too: info@lilystutoringservices.com. The form just helps us show up to the consult call already knowing your student's situation.

Is the consult call really free?

Yes. It's a conversation, not a sales pitch. You'll get our honest read on what your student needs, the format we'd recommend, and your exact rate. There's no obligation and no pressure to book on the spot.

Can I request a specific tutor?

You can. Name them in the form and we'll start there, subject to that tutor's availability. Otherwise Lily makes the pick.

How do I find the right tutor for my student?

You tell us the subject and a little about your student on the form, and Lily matches them to a tutor from our Maryland roster. Finding the fit is her job, not yours, so there are no profiles to scroll through and no guessing. If the match turns out wrong, say so and she'll find someone else.

Do you offer online tutoring, or only in person?

Both. Most of our tutoring happens online over Zoom, which lets your student work with the right tutor no matter where you are in Maryland. Online sessions are private and one-on-one, the same as sitting at the kitchen table. We also offer in-person sessions across Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Howard County, subject to tutor availability. On the consult call we'll help you choose the format that fits your student's schedule and how they learn best.

Can tutoring help with test anxiety?

Often, yes. Plenty of students freeze on tests even when they know the material, so we work on the test itself: pacing, question strategy, and enough realistic practice that the format stops feeling scary. When the anxiety is tied to disorganization or last-minute cramming, our executive functioning and study skills support helps students walk in prepared instead of panicked. Tell us what you're seeing and we'll suggest an approach.

How much does tutoring cost?

Rates start at $75 an hour, with SAT and AP-level work priced higher. You'll hear your student's exact rate on the free consult call before you book anything, and the full tiers live on our pricing and policies page.

Is $75 to $145 an hour a fair rate for tutoring?

For one-on-one tutoring in Maryland, we think so. That rate buys a full hour with a tutor Lily picked for your student's subject and how they learn, one-on-one, not a seat in a group class or a session with an app. Nothing locks you in past the session you've booked, and you can stop whenever you want. On the free consult call we'll tell you which tier your student falls into and why.

Do you help with study skills and staying organized?

Yes, and it's one of the most underused things we do. Beyond subject tutoring, our Hacking Your Potential track coaches the daily mechanics for motivated older teens and adults: the calendar, the notes, starting the essay before the night it's due. If your student is bright but buried, the fix is often study skills and academic support, not another round of content review. Mention it on the form and we'll point you to the right track.

What if I'm not sure what my student actually needs?

Then you're exactly who the consult call is for. Choose "Not sure yet" on the form and tell us what you're seeing at home: the slipping grade, the homework battles, the test anxiety. We'll help you figure out whether it's a subject gap, a skills gap, or both.

Do you coordinate with schools or teachers?

No, we don't coordinate with schools or teachers directly. We keep our focus on working with your student and you. That said, we're glad to align sessions to the class syllabus, upcoming tests, and any materials you share with us.

Do you tutor adults?

For executive functioning, yes. Hacking Your Potential is our coaching track for older teens and adults who want the planning and follow-through handled for good. Academic subject tutoring is built for students from 6th grade through college.

Which subjects can I ask about?

Math from Pre-Algebra through advanced calculus, SAT prep, writing from 6th grade through professional work, physics and STEM coursework, and executive functioning. We're honest about what we don't do too: ACT prep, AP Physics 1 or C, and AP English are outside what we cover.

What happens to the information I submit?

Your message goes to Lily's Tutoring Services alone, gets used only to match your student and follow up with you, and is never sold or shared. Privacy is the default here. Texting consent and the email list are optional checkboxes, and neither is ever a condition of working with us.

Prefer to talk it through?

Skip the form. Call or text us.

Five minutes on the phone is usually enough to know whether we're the right fit for your student.
